  • The Centrally Sponsored Scheme “National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS)” was launched in May, 2008. It is implemented by the Department of School Education & Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
  • The award scholarships to commendable students of economically weaker sections to help them in drop out at class VIII.

  • The NMMS ( NATIONAL MEANS — CUM — MERIT SCHOLARSHIP ) exam encourage them to continue the study at secondary stage. Scholarship of Rs.12000/- per annum (Rs.1000/- per month) per student is given to selected students every year for study in classes from IX to XII in State Government, Government aided and local body schools.
  • The Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs.1,50,000/- are eligible to avail the scholarships. There is reservation as per State Government norms. The selection of students award of the scholarships is made through an examination conducted by the State Governments.
  • It is not for private school students. It is only the drawback of this exam. Because lots of students , study in private schools , they are having need of money. Though they are so intelligent but due to money problem, they left study after standard-8. So it is great for the poor and very intelligent students. We put here everyday videos of NMMS.   • The Scholarships are disbursed by the State Bank of India directly into the bank accounts of students on quarterly basis. The students studying in “Kendriya Vidalayas and “Jawahar Vavodaya Vidlayas” are not entitled to get scholarship under this scheme.
  • Similarly, those students studying in Residential Schools run by the State Government Institutions, where facilities like boarding, lodging and education are provided and students studying in private schools are also not eligible for the scholarship under this scheme.
  • NMMS’s meaning is ( NATIONAL MEANS — CUM — MERIT SCHOLARSHIP ). This exam is one type of competitive exam for the students of Gujarat. This exam is held every year once in the month of December or January. The process for fill-up the form is available on their official site.
  • The State Examination Board ( SEB ) held this exam of Scholarship. In this examination, the students who score in the top, they are getting 1000 rupees Scholarship every month till standard 12. This exam is very useful for the students of each medium of Gujarat. Note that only Government school’s students can give this exam.
